Mössbauer Investigation of Segregation and Diffusion Mechanism of Sn in Poly- and Nanocrystalline Nb Grain Boundaries

چکیده
1. Introduction Recently a method based on the emission Mössbauer spectroscopy of radioisotope nuclei inserted in grain boundaries worked out by Klotsman and Kaigorodov [1] was successfully employed in a number of studies of grain boundaries in transition and noble metals. In the present investigation this method is used to study the diffusion mechanism and grain boundary segregation in polycrystalline and nanocrystalline Nb.

Thermal vacancy formation and D03 ordering in nanocrystalline intermetallic „Fe3Si...95Nb5
The correlation between thermal vacancy characteristics and D03 ordering in ball-milled nanocrystalline (Fe3Si)95Nb5 was studied by combined measurements of x-ray diffraction and positron annihilation. Structural stabilization due to grain boundary segregation of Nb enables high-temperature positron lifetime measurements up to 1023 K from which vacancy formation parameters identical to those in...
متن کاملGrain Boundary Specific Segregation in Nanocrystalline Fe(Cr)
A cross-correlative precession electron diffraction - atom probe tomography investigation of Cr segregation in a Fe(Cr) nanocrystalline alloy was undertaken. Solute segregation was found to be dependent on grain boundary type. The results of which were compared to a hybrid Molecular Dynamics and Monte Carlo simulation that predicted the segregation for special character, low angle, and high ang...
متن کاملFinite Element Modeling of Strain Rate and Grain Size Dependency in Nanocrystalline Materials
Nanocrystalline materials show a higher strain-rate sensitivity in contrast to the conventional coarse-grained materials and a different grain size dependency. To explain these phenomenon, a finite element model is constructed that considers both grain interior and grain boundary deformation of nanocrystalline materials. The model consist of several crystalline cores with different orientations...

Article history: Received 10 February 2016 Received in revised form 22 May 2016 Accepted 8 June 2016 Available online xxxx The relationships betweenmicrostructure, controlled by alloying elements prone to grain boundary segregation, and electrical resistivity in sputtered nanocrystalline Cu were investigated. We find a non-monotonic dependence of themean grain size on solute concentration for b...
متن کاملAtomic-scale quantification of grain boundary segregation in nanocrystalline material.
Grain boundary segregation leads to nanoscale chemical variations that can alter a material's performance by orders of magnitude (e.g., embrittlement). To understand this phenomenon, a large number of grain boundaries must be characterized in terms of both their five crystallographic interface parameters and their atomic-scale chemical composition. We demonstrate how this can be achieved using ...
